Assistant surveyor to U. S. Deputy Surveyor William Rector, performing surveys of the United States Public Lands in Illinois.

1816 January
Received a contract as a U. S. Deputy Surveyor to survey township exteriors in an area of Missouri bounded by the Fifth Principal Meridian, the Mississippi River and the Missouri River.

1816 October
Received a contract as a U. S. Deputy Surveyor to survey township exteriors, subdivide townships and survey confirmed private claims north of the Missouri River and west of the Fifth Principal Meridian in Missouri.  (The work was done by William L. May and Hugh White.)

1818 June 14
Married Margaret Mary Vance Rector, the widow of Wharton Rector (brother of William Rector).

1821 & 1822
Member of the Missouri Senate

1824 - 1833
Auditor of Public Accounts for the State of Missouri

1826 October
Moved to Jefferson City, Missouri, USA, when the seat of government of the State of Missouri was moved from St. Charles to Jefferson City.
